Maono Ya Chini (MYC), which means "Low Vision" in Swahili, was created when I was diagnosed with a hereditary macular dystrophy that changed my life and shifted my focus on how I viewed the world. This name was chosen to convey that low vision is an essence of beauty and illustrate how living a disability opens up a new world of growth and opportunities.

MYC is a platform to help people visually understand what life if like through the eyes of a person who is visually impaired and allow me to tell my story to those who live with a visual impairment.

Maono Ya Chini will aid in helping individuals share ideas, resources and stories about day to day living with a visual impairment.

My goal is to advocate for all people with visual impairments and teach people about visual impairments to aid in developing new technologies and ideas for the visually impaired community.
